School Buses in a row

The Transportation Department transports approximately 2,500 regular education students and over thirty special needs students daily. These buses travel over 1,527 miles one-way daily and provide services for over 400 field trips annually. There are forty-eight regular routes transporting students to various sites during the school day. An in-house bus garage staff maintains bus fleet and maintenance vehicles.

All route buses are equipped with two-way radios capable of communicating with all schools, the Transportation Department and District administrators. All buses are equipped with camera systems to monitor student behavior and document control issues for students and drivers.

All regular and substitute drivers have annual mandatory in-service training on safe driving techniques to ensure consistency throughout the District. Driver records are checked three times per year and fifty percent of all drivers are randomly drug-screened with twenty-five percent of those alcohol-tested.
